Baby boomers can finally contribute to America

Submitted by aislander on August 27, 2008 - 10:54am.

Baby boomers should just admit they were wrong about almost everything in the Sixties and Seventies, and stop wrecking the country to try to prove they were right.

Not all teachers have the correct mind set to be armed.

Submitted by readmore2008 on August 24, 2008 - 1:35pm.

In reading an article in your paper about teachers being allowed to carry guns, I couldn't help but have mixed feelings. I am an ex-teacher and would have gladly carried a gun in the classroom, if the laws had permitted it. But not all people have the correct mind set to be armed. Specifically, if you carry a gun, you have to be willing, ready and able to use it. If you have to stop and think about pulling the trigger in a life threatening situation, then you are a prime target for having the gun taken from you by the "bad guys". You become part of the problem instead of part of the solution to it.

Nothing But The SuperComputers

Submitted by tom2000 on August 23, 2008 - 5:58am.

A supercomputer is a computer that is at the frontline of processing capacity, particularly speed of calculation (at the time of its introduction). The term "Super Computing" was first used by New York World newspaper in 1929 to refer to large custom-built tabulators that IBM had made for Columbia University.

Eli Lilly Zyprexa RICO Lawsuit

Submitted by DannyHaszard on August 21, 2008 - 1:58pm.

"Through a complex series of illegal rackets and lies, Eli Lilly drug company built a multi-billion dollar drug enterprise at the expense of taxpayers, consumers and patient lives".
Zyprexa remains on the market in the United States and more than 80 other countries. About 30 state attorneys general have subpoenaed documents detailing Lilly's sales practices for Zyprexa as part of a civil investigation under state consumer protection laws. Zyprexa qualifies for a MedGuide warning:

Illegal sign ordinance changes

Submitted by ldozy1 on August 8, 2008 - 10:26am.

Learning their lesson from their failure to take the first ordinance hearings seriously, Realtors have been aggressively contacting the Pierce County Council asking for approval of the proposed changes to "sign spam".

Port Militarization Resistance Activists Seek Justice

Submitted by robolywa on August 3, 2008 - 2:29pm.

PMR activists are the good guys. As I PMR activist, I can honestly attest to the fact that I support the troops and soldiers of the US Military. I am not, as some may think, against the troops and soldiers of the US Military. Although it is true that I don't agree with everything that every soldier does, I do understand that the soldiers in our nation's military have been unjustly put into a terrible situation. It is the lies and deception of our nation's highest political officeholders that are responsible for this terrible situation. The military service men and women of the USA have largely been convinced and/or coerced into serving in an unjust and unnecessary war of choice.

Voice of the people/bloggers/ TNT Poll's

Submitted by ldozy1 on August 1, 2008 - 7:22am.

I constantly remain surprised at the minimal amount of discussion seen in the blogs about issues that affect us locally in Pierce County and about the failure of the TNT to really look for and report public input.

What kind of Governor would Dino Rossi be?

Submitted by papasan on July 19, 2008 - 1:40am.

I had the occasion to drive across the State late last month to register my son in college at Eastern Washington University. It was quite an educational 4 hour drive.
First, I must say that if you have never visited the Eastern part of Washington State, you should make a point of it. Just for the scenery itself. It may not be as green and pretty as over here, but it is a change.

The News Tribune Has NO Grit

Submitted by ArmandT on July 8, 2008 - 10:51pm.

So, the "news" tribune doesn't want to post the name of a pimp who turned himself in for abusing a baby boy, because the pimp hasn't been charged yet.

Myself and atleast one other person drop the name in comments shortly after KIRO 7 came up with the fortitude to name the pimp who turned himself in.
