And what language are you speaking anyway?

He was good running back for awhile. He excelled on some very good teams. But sheesh people. Get over it. He may go play for another team, at a greatly reduced rate, but there is noway he's going to last 3 more years in this league. Be thankful the Hawks didn't keep him around so long all his faithful fans started booing him, ala Richie Sexson/Bobby Ayala/David Thompson..... Sheesh, we really are some fickle fans for never being winners.

A running back is only as good as the blockers leading the way. Joe Montana would not be a well known guy if Jerry Rice was not a good receiver. Alexander may have been less than steller at times, but he may have been the scapegoat at times too. The utlimate revenge for him would be to be sent to the pro bowl with his team next year.

Shaun was and is a great athelete, a wonderful husband, father, and son, and above
all a great Christian that will always be a plus where-ever he is. He will be
missed by many friends.

Good Luck Shaun if everything goes well you'll be on "Dancing With The Stars" in a couple of years.

But the next person into the ring of honor is Mack Strong!

Submitted by tsdinsyder on April 23, 2008 - 7:09am.

Shaun,
Thanks so much for the many great years. The fun and excitement you provided all Seahawk fans is immesureable. You are an incredible back and the FIVE consectutive years of 1000 yard plus seasons are a testament to your skills. You are the reason we went to the Super Bowl in 2005. I really think you will show that releasing you was a mistake. You will fully recover from your injuries and make a strong impact with another team. Best of luck to a classy guy, great player and a good Christian. PS 37:4.

The ballplayers are overpayed because the owners are overpayed and their sponsers are overpayed and the networks are overpayed and we the people...... Are not.

If you aren't athletically inclined pass the WASL and get a job.

Submitted by nomorereg on April 23, 2008 - 5:11am.

I think your comment demonstrates who has the IQ of a 2 year old.

I'm pretty sure if your employer stated that they were going to triple your salary, you wouldn't state...'Gee whiz..I think that will make me overpaid..No thanks'.

Jobs pay what the market demands.. pretty much anyone can flip burgers which means they don't have to pay that much for the work. Doctors make more as not everyone can remove a tumor. Very few people have the talent to play sports professionally and the window of participation is relatively short. With a high revenue stream and very few qualified individuals for the position, the pay will be in accordance to what the market can allow. Above all professional sports are a business, and they are run as such.

in some cases. I think your comment is accurate AND a reflection on what is wrong with America today - the absolute glorification of sports figures, as well as celebrity itself.

Short and sweet, Democrats

It's funny how fans can forget so quick!! He was arguably the best Seahawk to ever step foot on the field, if you don't think so tell me the last MVP the Hawks had? He fell off the shelf for whatever reason...old age, shabby O-line or a combination of both. Not only was Shaun one of the best Hawks ever he was one of the best community guys on the team. A real asset to any community he ends up in.

I wish you luck Shaun, unfortunately you will always run into the synical, ignorant fan like Withchiwoman!!

I wish Shaun well. He helped us get to our only Super Bowl, and for that I will always be grateful. I wish him and his family nothing but the best, and I hope he lands on his feet somewhere. Just not the NFC! Thanks, Shaun, and good luck.

Shaun had class here at Alabama,I guess thats how we grow'em!!!! Roll Tide!!

Submitted by witchiwoman on April 22, 2008 - 9:21pm.

That was a very nice thing to say.

Submitted by witchiwoman on April 22, 2008 - 5:42pm.

was a highly overpaid flash in the pan. His first season was his only season. After that, every time he was on the field it seemed like the Hawks lost (even when he was sitting on the bench,) and he was never able to gain yardage like he did that first year. It was only when he was in no danger of playing that the team was able to play cohesively. And then they played great.
.
Alexander is a good reason for capping players' salaries. If you overpay them at the start, they lose incentive. And that's my honest opinion.
.
But he is a very nice person.

Submitted by pmbunda on April 22, 2008 - 5:58pm.

His first season was his only season? Huh?

Here's the data from ESPN.com:

Rushing Stats
YEAR ATT YDS TD
2000 64 313 2
2001 309 1318 14
2002 295 1175 16
2003 326 1435 14
2004 353 1696 16
2005 370 1880 27
2006 252 896 7
2007 207 716 4

I wouldn't consider myself an SA "fan," but we should probably give credit where credit is due. Complaints regarding Shaun's running style aside, any objective person would have to admit that he got the job done (and very well) when he was healthy.

Submitted by raymaines on April 22, 2008 - 5:22pm.

SA did all the right things, said all the right things, and was perhaps the most public face of the organization. He gained a million yards, scored a thousand TD's, earned league MVP en route to the only Super bowl we've been to and most SeaHawk fans are glad to see him go. Too weird.

I think he tried so hard to extend his career by not getting injured, that he cut it short by not running hard enough. It's just MHO, but he will never be nominated for the ring of honer, let alone be elected.

Best of luck Shaun, try not to trip over the yardage marker in the next city.

Oh BTW: Cory Dillen didn't like Cinncinati, and I don't expect SA will either. He should have put more effort into this gig.

Submitted by eyeland on April 22, 2008 - 5:10pm.

You have brought a great deal of class to the hawks and the Seattle area. You certainly deserve your place in the Ring Of Honnor. Upon induction to the football hall of fame your #37 should be retired. You will always be a Seahawk.

Submitted by edstang45 on April 22, 2008 - 5:04pm.

Wow I am dissapointed to hear the news, although I kinda expected this. But That said Shaun was undoubtedly a class act. I will miss him!! He is definetley the ultimate role model for players in the league and for the men and boys of the Seattle area. I will miss him! Godd luck to you Shaun as you follow gods path for your future. There was never anyone finer, You Are the MVP, Baby!!!!

Submitted by montanahawkfan on April 22, 2008 - 4:49pm.

A class act! Hope he gets a chance in Cinncinati where he would bring a "classy " presence to an organization in need of it. AND I hope that the Seahawks sign him again on the day before he retires!

Submitted by BrianHawk on April 22, 2008 - 4:15pm.

You were a class act when you got here, and your statement proves you are still a class act. I look forward to your Ring Of Honor induction! Best wishes any day you are not playing the Seahawks.
