This is Iris, our Airedale puppy. My daughter and I wanted to name her Chrysanthemum, after the title character in the children's book by Kevin Henkes. My husband and son thought the name was too long, too sissy, too, too much. We brainstormed for other names and kept coming up with flowers. Rosie wouldn't work, that's the redbone coonhound next door. Lilly the terrier lives around the corner. Our friends have a lab named Daisy ... Ah, but Iris ... no one had an Iris. Happens to be my favorite flower, and the name fits her oh, so well. She's a beauty.
