Norm Dicks - again - for Congress
Submitted by thenewstribune.com on July 25, 2008 - 1:15am.
The biggest thing Norm isn't is a representative.
He is supposed to be there to Represent the People of this District.
Over the past two years I have taken a poll, I asked every person I have met if they have ever met Norm during his three plus decades in office, or ever been invited to an open meeting where they could speak and ask questions, or just any meeting with Norm. I have yet to find anyone that could say yes to those questions.
I have written several letters to Norm in the last two years, most all go without answer or reply, the two or three that were answered were answered with a generic form letter that didn't even mention my questions let alone answer one of them.
Norm is an elitist, thinks he is above the People, that pay his salary and expense account. Speaking of expense accounts, I got a look at one for one of his trips, he submitted $2,500 for food for a single week in the Bahamas, no wonder he's so fat. I know a lot of People with families that don't bring in $2,500 a month to cover everything.
NO, it is past time for Fat Norm to waddle off into the sunset with his big fat pensions and benefits package.
I'm surprised that all of you fascists in here are dissing Norm. He is truly one of you.
.
Won't meet with his citizen constituents
Thinks you don't need your 4th amendment rights
Supports the Imperial presidency
Believes in permanent overseas conflicts
Supported the no credit card company left behind bankruptcy bill
Permanent fixture in the House

The Number one problem with Norm, is that he doesn't believe in accountability.
He refuses to back hearings that look into impeachable offenses by the current administration, of which there are many. He continues to vote for funding a war that he now says he shouldn't have help to authorize, and now he thinks it's ok that the telecomm companies that helped GWB erase our fourth amendment ought to be let off the hook. Feel free to stand for something significant Norm besides massive subsidies for your campaign contributors.
And now that Norm has competition from the left he refuses to debate any of them. This is very unfortunate and I think shows a cowardly streak in the Congressman. If he believes he's so right on these tough issues, then stand up next to your opponents and tell us all why you are right and they are wrong. So much for good old fashioned American democracy eh Norm?
One last point, when I brought these issues up respectfully on his campaign's blog forum, my posts were deleted. Norm doesn't even want to hear from constituents who have issues with his policy positions. Why bother, right Norm? As long Boeing keeps writing those checks to the Norm Dicks for Congress Campaign, you don't need to talk us 'little folk' now do you?
Norm has never held a job since college that wasn't in D.C. He is insulated and the time has come to thank him for his 30 plus years of service and move him out to pasture.
Dicks has mastered the skill of deception. A lazy, overweight, dependable Marxist, but not a pushy Marxist, and truly represents the 6th which has its many warts.
Military bases in the NW corner of our warring nation allowed him his (our) share of the largess. We probably receive more than we contribute, but greed is not a Dick’s trait, nor is leadership, legislation, efficiency, or just plain spend less so taxpayers have more. It is time for Norm to retire and allow the baton to be passed to a younger goal oriented candidate willing to work for the people not just the party.
Maggie gave him his chance and he did not shame us. Now let us see if he is man enough to do the same. Derek Kilmer of the 26th can taste the potential for power, but Kilmer is not a good choice, and not all parasites are bad.
Cordially

Hope.
.Is that like praying? Your hope will be answered?...
... What? Let’s have a group hope? Can you just say something a little more ridiculous?

He lives in DC and only represents a small portion of WA. Remember his tired out slogan "he works for jobs" when you go to the polls in Nov. If he was working for jobs in WA he would have had closer ties with the Air Force and the tanker contract. Remember when Airbus gets the tanker contract ask yourself who was he working for? The Europeans and those that live in Georgia? Pathetic

Because he's been there so long, he wields considerable clout, as politics goes, and does bring federal money to our state for many things. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

buts that OUR money. We get back about 10 cents for every dollar we send to D.C. The Federal Government dosen't give us anything but problems. The more government the more problems.
Hey you at the TNT..you and your buddy John Ladenburg just got all over McKenna and here you are giving an endorsement to Norm Dicks that is worth a fortune. How do we value your dnation to Dicks in an op-ed.

"We could cite dozens of such instances in which he has used his position to assist the communities he represents..."
Yes, like the time the state wanted to build a new bridge in the middle of his district that connects Army and Air Force bases in Pierce County with Navy bases in Kitsap County, and Congressman Dicks went completely AWOL.
It still shocks me that there is absolutely no Federal money in the new Narrows bridge. Congressman Dicks avoided this project like it had a bad smell.

And as far as I have seen he never has given any help to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard lately and this is his stomping grounds from what I have heard.. What was his vote on the Medicare & tricare for the retired Veterans????
