Price of vehicle tabs might go up $20 in '09

Budget crunch

Olympia has a long list of transportation projects it can't get to because of a lack of money. It's strapped for cash this year because of double-digit declines in sales-tax revenue, and it is facing the prospect of major budget cuts next year. It likely will eliminate 22 positions. But Kirkemo said she thinks the city would consider the fee increase even in better times, "mainly because our transportation needs are so great."

My Personal Opinion:
"This appears to be just another mental giants suggestion or legal excuse for raising tax revenue's"!
Does State, County, or cities think we have a money tree in our back yards with the massive lay-offs & closures reported almost daily!
Politicians have made Alla-Bobba and the forty thieves into child’s play.
Hey, did you ever think of cutting 'your wages'? Oh gosh no... that wouldn’t be in the Remedy!
How about downsizing city government... out of the question too-huh?

Oh WOW!! 20 bucks extra evey dang year! Those danged THEIVES!!! Lets see, my math tells me $20.00 come out to a little more than a NICKEL a day. Jeeepers! Its the END OF THE WORLD!!!!

A $5.00 latte every morning adds up to about $1800 bucks a year!!

Maybe someone could cut back and just get a $4.95 latte and pay MY tabs for me!

It takes a VILLAGE!!!

If your a ratepayer for the Tacoma Municipal public utilities service—light, water, sewer, stormwater, or solidwaste—don't forget you have some more nickels and dimes to pay-out for these new ratepayer increases proposed, and it takes this village to deliver these value added ratepayer services also, just like everything else you pay for, so it's not the end of the world, but you will be just helping the village more. I often wonder why my SBUX stock is loosing value; since people enjoy their taxes more than their coffee drinks. Thanks for the education.

Dale just said "it takes a village"....that's code for: "put up and shut up" for the unenlightened.
Don't bother with how things really work...
It's ONLY $20 and to point out that there's more to it only annoys those who believe in the fairy tale of "ONLY $20".
They don't want to hear that it's $20 over and over and over.........and........

Are you just thinking about the potential for RTID tax or results from these regional transportation investment district taxes that could be additional taxes placed upon us taxpayers? And, the State of Washington Legislature has already granted permission to impose these new taxes, Washington Revised Code RCW 36.120.030, see Washington Revised Code RCW 36.120.030: Planning committee — Formation. available at http://law.justia.com/washington/codes/title36/36.120.030.html, and RCW 82.80.140 Vehicle fee — Transportation benefit district — Exemptions. If you are thinking about some other new tax in the works and not public knowledge yet; it follows, tell-us-all about this new tax and who is presenting these new taxation ideas?

So, lets see which people by name will propose these additional taxes to be placed upon the Citizens of Washington State, Pierce County, and the Citizens of City of Tacoma?
