Best Selling Technology Author Living in Pierce County

Submitted by beckhart on June 29, 2009 - 2:38pm.

The very unassuming Peter H. Gregory, CISA, CISSP, DRCE, a local resident of Pierce County, has just completed the nineteenth and twentieth books of his writing career. Number nineteen is CISSP Guide to Security Essentials by Course Technology/Cengage Learning, which is now part of the curriculum in the Certificate Program in Information Security at the University of Washington.

Over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Gregory reports that he completed the manuscript for book twenty. When asked if he has a new writing target, he jokes, "One hundred is my next big goal" but then adds, "My long range plan is to develop a portfolio of books that will go into repeat editions. I also plan to use other means of reaching my readers with information that will help them to improve their skills and knowledge" which is consistent with the reputation Gregory has among his colleagues as being an "all around nice guy" and "proven himself to be extremely responsive, knowledgeable, and ready to lend a hand." Gregory is a career technologist, published author, public speaker, university instructor, and commentator, in the fields of data security, business security, and business use of technology. He is an expert on a wide variety of business and technology issues and has published with Course Technology, John Wiley & Sons (For Dummies series), ComputerWorld, O’Reilly Media and Sun Microsystems Press.

The publication of Gregory's 20th book, CISA All-In-One Study Guide (publisher, Osborne McGraw Media) will hit the presses in October of this year. Does the success go to his head? Hardly! Most people are surprised when they learn about his writing career assuming that such success would be flaunted but Gregory and his wife and daughter choose to live a quiet life where priorities are family and charity work.
